Cher is auctioning her Hawaii home, which is estimated to fetch up to $12 million.

The six-bedroom Honolulu home overlooking the Pacific Ocean is set to be auctioned on January 18.

Concierge Auctions estimated the three-quarter-acre (0.3 hectare) property with views of the Hualalai Golf Course was worth about $8 million to $12 million.

A website set up for the sale says the property has a main residence and five freestanding bungalows totaling 8,821 sqm. Four have bedroom suites, and the fifth is a media bungalow with a bar.

It says the residence was designed by Cher and "balances modern sophistication with traditional Balinese style."
In all, it has six bedrooms, six bathrooms and two half baths.

Cher Celebrates 100th Show / Posted by: Twins - 02.12.2009

Superstar and pop icon Cher celebrated her 100th show at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace last night. Before the performance, a Cher logo cake was served backstage in honor of the milestone.

After their performance, the musicians, dancers and aerialists who make up the cast joined with the technical crew for the festivities. They all kicked back for a special performance by the Las Vegas Pussycat Dolls at a private event inside the Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Pure in Caesars Palace. The enthusiastic group cheered and applauded during the Dolls’ 20-minute routine.

Cher, who is rarely seen on the Las Vegas nightlife circuit, stayed at Pure for her night on the town. Our spywitness reported: “Though she was dressed in a gray sweater and black jeans, her pink hair was hard to miss! She sat with a small group of friends, including her choreographer and So You Think You Can Dance mastermind Doriana Sanchez. Cher, who is a health fanatic, stuck to water while enjoying the night.”

     Cher forever young / Posted by: Chris-q - 04.11.2009

She may be 63, but it seems Cher has no intention of showing her age. The former pop star's face looked strangely youthful and line-free, if slightly glowing, as she arrived at Los Angeles airport. And there are not many sexagenarians who would risk - let alone get away with - a pair of denim jeans, bejewelled belt, white cowboy hat and satin vest top.

But Cher's youthful skin isn't simply down to a good diet. She has previously admitted to a facelift, as well as procedures to improve her teeth and breasts, and has even described herself as a 'plastic surgery poster girl'. She said she felt pressure to look youthful in a bid to keep up in the highly competitive pop industry.

Cher, who with her then husband Sonny Bono made No.1 in Britain and America with I Got You Babe in 1965, continued to have chart success well into her fifties. Her career kickstarted again in 1990 when the Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss) returned her to No.1 and she topped the charts again in 1998 with Believe at the age of 52. The singer's battle against time has also helped her enjoy fantastic movie success. She won an Oscar for her portrayal of a frumpy bookkeeper in Moonstruck in 1987 and won legions of fans in The Witches Of Eastwick and Mermaids. She is due to appear next year in Burlesque, starring Christina Aguilera as a 'small-town girl with a big voice' who gets work in a club run by a former dancer, played by Cher.
She has said: 'Everyone says I am terrified of getting old, but the truth is that in my job becoming old and becoming extinct are one and the same thing. 'And becoming obsolete and useless is completely unattractive to me.'

Stanley Tucci goes "Burlesque" / Posted by: Chris-q - 28.09.2009

Screen Gems has set Stanley Tucci to star alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera in "Burlesque," the musical to be directed by Steve Antin.

Antin wrote the script, which was revised by Susannah Grant.

Donald De Line is producing through his De Line Pictures banner. Production begins Nov. 9, and the pic is set for a Thanksgiving release next year.

Aguilera plays an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who finds success in a neo-burlesque club reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse's "Cabaret." Tucci will play the manager of the Sunset Boulevard club and the best friend and confidante of Tess (Cher), a former dancer who takes the young girl under her wing. Pic marks Cher's first movie starring role in a decade.

Tucci is coming off "Julie and Julia" and "The Devil Wears Prada." He most recently starred for Screen Gems in the comedy "Easy A" and also stars in the Peter Jackson-directed "The Lovely Bones."

Twilight stud Gigandet joins Cher, Xtina / Posted by: Chris-q - 24.09.2009

One is a living legend in music and movies, the other is a living legend about to make her movie debut. Now, Cher and Christina Aguilera are being joined by a red-hot "Twilight" star who will be appearing in his first musical opposite the two famous females: Cam Gigandet.

"I'm shooting a movie called 'Burlesque' with Christina Aguilera in her acting debut," Gigandet revealed when he stopped by the MTV studio recently. "And Cher." Xtina's fans have been eager to learn details on "Burlesque" since the project was announced last June, especially since it will mark her big-screen debut. Some might be questioning Aguilera's acting skills, but at least they know she'll have a talented leading man at her side.

"It's about a girl from the Midwest who moves out to Los Angeles to pursue her career as a singer," explained Gigandet, whose busy post-"Twilight" schedule has him releasing the sci-fi flick "Pandorum" this weekend. "Obviously, it's Christina Aguilera, so she has an amazing voice. She finds a club run by Cher, a burlesque club. And she takes it to a whole new level and, of course, meets me — the love of her life.

"I am a struggling piano player, and I'm currently working as a bartender at Cher's burlesque club," Gigandet said of his character. "Christina and I meet, fall in love, and drama ensues."

The next question is an obvious one for "Twilight" fans: Will Cam sing and dance? When we asked the star, he hesitated to even call "Burlesque" a musical. "That's interesting — I don't know. There's music in it, and they do sing. I mean, they're at a burlesque club, so they do sing and dance," he explained. "It's a very sexy, sexy movie." But this much Cam would confirm: He will not be singing any two-part harmonies with his new leading lady. "Oh right, a duet with me and Christina?" he laughed, looking forward to the film that begins shooting in December. "That would be like Kermit the Frog and Christina. I can't sing."

The tentatively titled Coming Clean will hit stores in 2011.

Cher returned at Vegas!!! / Posted by: Chris-q - 23.09.2009

Cher returned at Caesar’s Palace with new awesome Las Vegas shows on Saturday, September 19th. She changed her costumes for many songs. There are two new songs (“Fire Down Below” and “Old Time Rock and Roll”) and seven new outfits.

One of the Cher’s fans wrote review about the show:

“The show was just under 2 hours long !! She looked and sounded AMAZING !! Her voice was really strong, she really belted it out & she was very happy! I never stopped being amazed at how she can keep getting better looking !

She has dropped Love Is A Battlefield. But what has been added is beatifully done, after LaVerne the stage set up is a very retro forties set with 2 old cars, all the dancers in Zoot suits, she comes out dressed as a man complete a moustache looking like a 40's gangster and she sings Fire Down Below, I was always just okay with that song but now I love, it was amazingly done, anyone going is in for a treat ! She gets inside one of the cars and then comes out dressed in a yellowish/greenish tight dress with a red sideswept wig, very beautiful, very Tea With Mussolini and she then sings Ole Time Rock N Roll, she even climbs on top of one of the cars, it was awesome !! She later came out and asked us if we liked it & said they had worked on it up until 5 o'clock that afternoon and she was happy she pulled it off as she screwed it up at every rehearsal, and told us she was glad we were the first to see it, awwww...I love her !!

Ok new outfits, hope I remember it all, All I Really Wanna Do she wears the bell bottoms outfit from the Farewell tour but a more colorful version. Gypsies is a new very skimpy sexy version, Dark Lady is like the dark lady original outfit from the Dark Lady album, long black dress & fur, gorgeous !!! Love Hurts is new, it's silver & very shear, also Believe is new, the top half is like the Believe outfit from the Farewell tour, the red wig & the red heart but the bottom half is just all beads & I think we saw alot of butt !! All the new changes to the outfits are much more shear & much sexier & she definitely can pull it off, she looks stunning !!!"

Cher-ing memories of a young Michael Jackson / Posted by: Twins - 27.06.2009

After spending years in seclusion, Michael Jackson is back in the public eye in a big way, thanks to a record-breaking 50 sellouts for his upcoming shows at London’s O2 Arena — not to mention a Michael Jackson theme night on “American Idol.”  One of the few stars who can match the King Of Pop’s longevity is Cher, who still performs in Las Vegas despite embarking on her own “farewell tour” several years ago.  The two stars’ paths first crossed nearly 40 years ago, when Cher worked with Michael and his brothers on a medley of their hits.  For Cher, keeping up with the Jackson 5 was a pretty challenging task!  She shared her memories of working on that routine with them.

Cher, calling in to Larry King Live on CNN, shared many memories of Jackson, including dancing together on the Queen Mary and seeing the musical Dreamgirls together. "I am having a million reactions," said Cher. "When I think of him, I think of this young boy, this teenager I first met … He was a great teenager, optimistic and adorable."

Cher joining Aguilera in "Burlesque" / Posted by: Twins - 23.06.2009

In what will be her first movie star role in a decade, Cher is set to join Christina Aguilera in "Burlesque," a contemporary musical for Screen Gems.

Steven Antin will direct from a script he wrote that was revised by Susannah Grant (Daily Variety, May 4).

Aguilera will play an ambitious small-town Iowa girl with a big voice who comes of age in a neo-burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard that's run by Tess (Cher), a former dancer who struggles to keep the club open and gives the young girl a chance to shine.

Cher will sing onscreen. While her voice has been heard in many films, "Burlesque" will mark the first time she'll be seen singing in a film she stars in. Cher last starred in "Tea With Mussolini" in 1999.

Donald De Line will produce. Production begins in November.

Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper said he has been lobbying Cher to make her screen return, and once she said yes, it was a matter of creating room in her busy schedule of touring and performing in Las Vegas.

"She brings a soulfulness and gravitas to this character that will ground the story," Culpepper said. "The only person who was more excited than I am is Christina."

     Cher supports Chaz's sex change / Posted by: Chris-q - 19.06.2009

Pop star Cher, 63, has broken her silence over her daughter’s “difficult journey” to change her sex.

In a statement issued late Wednesday to US magazine People, Cher expressed her support on Chastity (Chaz) Bono’s decision to become a man.
Chastity (Chaz) Bono, who is a lesbian, began undergoing sex change operations shortly after her 40th birthday on March 4. She has been active in the gay and lesbian movement for many years.

“She is embarking on a difficult journey, but one that I will support. I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny,” Cher said in the statement.

“Although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding. The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child.”

Cher's daughter to have sex change / Posted by: Twins - 13.06.2009

Chastity Bono, civil rights advocate, journalist, author and musician, is in the early stages of changing his gender - transitioning from female to male, TMZ has learned.
Bono, the child of legendary entertainers Sonny and Cher, began the process earlier this year, shortly after his 40th birthday.
"Yes, it's true - Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity," confirmed Bono's publicist, Howard Bragman.
"He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz's hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his 'coming out' did nearly 20 years ago.
We ask that the media respect Chaz's privacy during this long process as he will not be doing any interviews at this time."

Cher, Bono heirs sue Universal Music over royalties / Posted by: Chris-q - 04.06.2009

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Cher has sued Universal Music Group, claiming that the label's creative accounting has shortchanged her and the heirs of her late ex-husband, Sonny Bono, to the tune of $5 million.
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims an audit of UMG's accounting to the singer-actress from 2000 to 2003 showed that UMG executives "engaged in wrongful tactics" designed to hide revenue from two hit compilation albums.
The five-count, 22-page complaint claims breach of two recording contracts Cher had with UMG predecessors, one with MCA division Kapp Records in 1972 and a 1987 deal with the David Geffen Company. Cher claims that those deals entitled her -- and, in the case of the 1972 deal, Bono -- to receive up to 50 percent of net royalties received by UMG.
The complaint alleges that UMG later made a deal with Warner Music U.K. to distribute a 1999 compilation called "Cher The Greatest Hits," then funneled the money through UMG's international arm to conceal the amount of royalties owed to Cher and the Bono heirs.
"Instead of reporting to and paying plaintiffs their share of the revenues generated by Warner U.K., UMG Recordings, in an egregious example of self-dealing, apparently inserted Universal International as a middleman in the transaction ... for the sole purpose of diverting money that rightfully belonged to plaintiffs to Universal International," the complaint says.
"The claims are meritless, and we are confident that we will prevail in court," said UMG spokesperson Peter Lofrumento.
Cher also challenges accounting on a second compilation, 2002's "The Very Best of Cher." UMG allegedly allowed the album to be distributed by a division of Warner Music Group but accounted to Cher on a royalty basis as though UMG had sold the records itself, thus decreasing her share.
"UMG Recordings is underreporting and underpaying the royalties due to plaintiffs based on UMG Recordings' improperly accounting to plaintiffs based on a royalty rate instead of their respective shares of net receipts."
Cher also claims that UMG improperly deducted $328,662 in television advertising expenses and a 6.5 percent service charge in reporting revenue from the 1999 greatest hits collection, and that more money is owed from 2004 through 2008. But she has not yet audited the label's books for those years.
Cher and Bono came to prominence in 1965 when their single "I Got You, Babe" hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart, and she has since become the only female recording artist to have a Top 10 hit in each of the past five decades.
When Cher and Bono divorced in 1977, they agreed to split revenue from the songs recorded together. After Bono died in a ski accident in 1998, one-third of his interest passed to wife Mary Bono Mack, and one-sixth interests were split amongst his kids. Bono Mack, as well as Cher's daughter with Bono, Chastity Bono, are plaintiffs in the case, as are Bono children Christy Bono, Chianna Bono and son Chesare Bono.
"Universal is playing a game of catch-me-if-you-can with one of the most popular and iconic artists of all time," said Cher's lawyer, Mark Passin, of Robbins Kaplan. "Unfortunately, record companies have learned over the years that they can increase their bottom line by underreporting royalties to artists."
Music producer Snuff Garrett is also a plaintiff. He claims he is entitled to a 50 percent pro rata share of royalties from some of the recordings based on a producer's deal with MCA Records.

Cher turns back time / Posted by: Twins - 11.05.2009

Cher stunned audiences when she first donned her daring black cut-out body suit 17 years ago. And the singer looked equally as amazing as she took to the stage in an outfit almost identical to the lace and gem-encrusted outfit at the David Foster and Friends concert at Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas. The 62-year-old was all smiles as she showed off her figure in the daring number, which includes thigh-high leather boots and suspenders.     She first wore a version of the costume at the age of 46 in Berlin and fans at her weekend show were delighted as she showed that it really is possible to Turn Back Time.

This time around, the hair's bigger and the leather jacket is shorter - but the question on everyone's lips is whether it's actually the original outfit she wore all those years
Cher has previously admitted that she has had a little help maintaining her youthful looks.

She confessed to having a facelift, as well as procedures to improve her teeth and breasts, and has even described herself as a 'plastic surgery poster girl'.

Cher says she felt pressure to look youthful in a bid to keep up in the highly competitive pop industry.

Her career won its biggest boost with the 1998 success of the song Believe.
She has said: 'Everyone says I am terrified of getting old, but the truth is that in my job becoming old and becoming extinct are one and the same thing.
'And becoming obsolete and useless is completely unattractive to me.'

Only thing burning at Cher's house is desire / Posted by: Twins - 08.05.2009

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- When emergency crews scramble to a celebrity's home and it turns out to be a false alarm, journalists don't usually write about it.

When the celebrity is Cher and her publicist issues an entertaining response to a reporter's call, some entertainment writers can't resist.

The electronic call for help sounded at Cher's Malibu, California, home at 11:16 a.m. Thursday, spurring a flurry of activity.

Ambulances and fire trucks rushed to the singer's residence, sending journalists to their address books for Cher's contact information.

Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, quickly responded to CNN's questions with this e-mailed explanation:

"Just spoke to Cher who confirmed it was a false alarm but said she never saw so many cute firemen and paramedics in her life," said Rosenberg's response. "She added there was an especially gorgeous black-haired ambulance driver that she is really sorry she didn't get to meet. Maybe there'll be another false alarm ..."

Cher Turns Back Time with New Vegas Extravaganza / Posted by: Twins - 28.02.2009

Cher is back and larger than life with an all-new, exciting Vegas show -- and ET's Mark Steines is getting the grand tour behind the scenes with the ageless diva! But first, she's clearing the air on tabloid rumors about her health…

"I don't look at them, so I don't know," says Cher about the tabloids and reports that she is battling cancer and seeing Farrah Fawcett's doctor for treatment of the disease. She shrugs off the rumors, saying that her health is okay.

"Yeah!" she tells Mark. "What did it look like tonight [when I was performing]?"

Cher has had her share of setbacks with the show. She previously had to cancel her run in Vegas prematurely due to asthma problems, and in order to preserve her voice, she does not speak at all when she's not on stage.

"After the show I just do complete vocal rest," she says. "I text my friends, which aggravates them to death, or I e-mail them, and I just write notes to whoever's around."

And sometimes performing live presents its own hazards: "I've fallen twice on that stage!" she reveals, explaining that during the "If I Could Turn Back Time" number, dancers throw their hats and, "My right foot hit [a] cowboy hat and felt like Superman. … And then I fell on my knee and my hands -- [but] I never dropped the microphone. I never missed a beat, didn't miss a note or word, and I think [the audience was] just stunned that I fell so hardcore and then just jumped up; because I was [stunned]."

Cher's show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is an ultra-glitzy, 90-minute production spectacular that leaves audiences breathless and wanting more, performing her hits from across the decades backed by breathtaking choreography and all the Vegas-style trimmings.

"My voice is The Picture of Dorian Gray," she says about her timeless vocal ability, which seems to get better with age. "Who thought I would be here this long? No one."

And Cher pulls no punches when it comes to the Octuplet Mom, Nadya Suleman, saying, "You cannot be a single mom living with your parents on welfare and have all of those children. That chick is like on planet I-don't-know-where."

      Q&A: Cher says she's living `like a nun' in Vegas / Posted by: Chris-q - 18.02.2009

NEW YORK—Cher's concert stand in Las Vegas may be the ultimate representation of Sin City: it's decadent, glitzy, oversized, over-the-top and a thrill-a-minute experience. But when she leaves the Colosseum at Caesars Palace at the end of her performance, the 62-year-old singer leads a lifestyle quite opposite from the kind that Las Vegas has come to represent: She stays out of the casinos, refrains from drinking, doesn't smoke and stays away from the all-night party scene.

"I like to go out, do my work and then come home," says Cher, who likens her time away from the stage to living like "a nun."

Unlikely words from a woman who has represented quite the opposite over her nearly five-decade career (as the barely there outfits she dons in her show reflect). But while she puts on an eye-popping extravaganza in Vegas, Cher likes to keep her home life decidedly more low-key.

In a recent interview, Cher—who kicks off the second phase of her concerts at Caesars Palace this month—talked about her show, life in Vegas and why she finds herself in Target stores.

AP: What was the first season of shows like in Vegas?

Cher: The schedule is a dream schedule. The only thing that I kind of didn't anticipate for some reason, I don't know where my brain is, but I didn't anticipate the dryness getting to my throat the way it did. ... So when I'm there, I have to kind of live like a nun and not talk during the day, but that's the only unusual thing.

AP: How do you not talk during the day? Is it hard?

Cher: Yeah. ... It's so hard for me, I just really have to think about it and just not speak, but I have to remind myself about 100 times a days, because I'm not the kind of person that doesn't want to talk.

AP: Do you text people?

Cher: (Laughs) Oh yes, I do text people—I text, I e-mail, which is kind of the only saving grace.

AP: What's the best part of getting back to Vegas?

Cher: Look, performers love to perform—that's the thing that we do. I think one of the best things was being able to imagine anything that I wanted, anything that I came up with we could do, because this theater is unbelievable. I come home twice a week, so I'm kind of at home. ... I'm not there that much, but it takes me 40 minutes to get home (in the Los Angeles area), it's like doing a show from my bedroom.

AP: What's your upcoming movie with Johnny Knoxville about?

Cher: I can't really talk about it yet. I just can't.

AP: What kind of sound will your new CD have?

Cher: It's hard to put a label sometimes on songs, but it's a little bit more guitar-oriented, a little bit more like "I Found Someone" feeling, and there's some stuff that's still sort of guitar-oriented, but it's got a Southern feeling to it. You know, I just find songs that I like and then I do them and hopefully they make something cohesive.

AP: Have you considered doing one of those exclusive marketing deals?

Cher: I think it's a good way to market things. ... I happen to actually think Target's pretty fabulous. On the road, when you're in some teeny little town, I must tell you, I've been to a lot of Targets. I know there are a lot of Targets and a lot of stores called Michaels in the United States. We had a thing where we do painting and we would have these big Teamsters painting a little teapot for their mom. ... I would be running to Michaels and getting paintbrushes and stuff like that.

AP: What do you do when you're not working on your music?

Cher: I have a school in Africa. I just got back from Kathmandu (Nepal) and I'm working with some Tibet children there, and I just got back from (the Los Angeles) city hall ... to try and save the life of this elephant Billy in the L.A. zoo. I just don't want this elephant to die ... he has so much anxiety. He's been alone there forever. ... Elephants should not be in zoos. Elephants don't live in zoos, they die in zoos.

A host of celebrities including Cher and Bob Barker were unsuccessful in their bid to encourage the Los Angeles City Council to stop the completion of the L.A. Zoo’s $42 million Pachyderm Forest on Tuesday.

Cher, Bob and Lily Tomlin were among the celebs who turned up to a L.A. City Council meeting to urge council members to abort plans to complete an elephant habitat at the zoo, and to see that the zoo’s lone elephant, Billy, is transferred to an animal sanctuary.

“From I understand about GLAZA (the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association) is it’s always been done this way, there have always been elephants in the city zoos throughout history… and that’s what makes it right. It doesn’t make it right,” Cher said. Photos you can see in the gallery.

      Cher in Washington / Posted by: Chris-q - 19.01.2009

Barack Obama kicked off his inauguration festivities Sunday in a Lincoln Memorial celebration fused with history and full of legendary musicians and show business luminaries.

The event, before a staggering crowd that endured a winter chill and spread all the way to the Washington Monument, was the highlight of a weekend defined by anxious excitement and maddening logistics.

The intense security here has closed major roads, forced a series of checkpoints and made just about everyone prepare for long lines.

But what has created havoc for many of the Hollywood figures who have come to the capital this weekend is the desire to cram as many events, cocktail parties and balls into a single day, all in the name of witnessing history. Some media figures have taken to keeping closely held lists of all of the events, with a premium placed on the more intimate affairs. On Saturday, media, political and entertainment types -- including California attorney general Jerry Brown and singer Michael Stipe --packed into writer Christopher Hitchens' party for Slate. Many guests could be heard plotting their agendas for the rest of the weekend. One author was looking forward to a small dinner on Sunday night that included Cher.

That sense of a turning point helped producers of the Lincoln Memorial event secure major talent quickly. Led by Bruce Springsteen singing "The Rising," and capped by Springsteen and folk legend Pete Seeger crooning "This Land Is Your Land," and Beyonce with "America the Beautiful," the ceremony was pulled together in just a matter of weeks. HBO's Richard Plepler, sitting in the audience along with Michael Lombardo, said about 95% of those asked agreed to come.

Cher to star with Johnny 'Jackass' Knoxville / Posted by: Twins - 17.01.2009

Cher, the legendary, the timeless, and the Oscar winning is getting ready to make her film comeback. Her co-star is a jackass. Sources say that the star of "Moonstruck," "Mermaids" and other comedies is getting ready to make a film with none other than Johnny Knoxville. "The Drop Out" is written by "Family Guy" writer-producer Ricky Blitt, who last teamed with Knoxville on a 2005 feature called "The Ringer." That one was a send up, believe it or not, of the Special Olympics. Cher's last film role was in the Farrelly brothers' "Stuck on You," in which she, hilariously, played herself.

"The Drop Out" is not a remake, but an original comedy about a lonely 62-year-old who takes up with her 35-year-old ne'er-do-well neighbor. Knoxville was born in 1971, when Cher was cracking wise to Sonny on TV every week. He's two years younger than her daughter Chastity. The Cher news was delivered at last night's Sundance dinner at the Bon Appetit café for Spike Lee's film of "Passing Strange." That's the video version of the award winning Broadway musical by Stew, who has one name, just like — that's right — Cher!
